WELCOME TO sHINE lAB!

Shine Lab is a response to the growing hopes and dreams of the disabilty community. Because educational opportunities for the community have expanded, work opportunities also need to expand. Shine Lab promotes the work of our Shine Lab Techs in our online store. We provide an opportunity to work at their own pace, work on projects that are important and meaningful to them, and see their work flourish. Shine Lab is the dream that became a movement. We hope you will schedule a pop-up coffee service date with us and see the ways we shine!

WHY WE’RE NEEDED

According to the National Down Syndrome Congress, only 20% of individuals with an intellectual disability are employed. Some training programs exist, but not enough jobs. Additionally, a 2012 Boston University study determined that for every dollar earned by the neurotypical population, workers with intellectual disabilities earned 34 cents. Even those individuals with disabilities who qualified for vocational rehabilitation job training have poor employment outcomes; only 34% achieved integrated employment.
